shazbott, posting in uw @ 4:33pm: Relig 202
So I currently have a hold on my registration, and while I'm waiting for the paperwork to go through that will lift the hold, I want to pick up the needed books for Relig 202 (Intro to Eastern Religion). However, I wasn't able to attend class today and pick up a syllabus.

Does anyone happen to know either the required books, or (preferably) the website address for the course?

crox144, posting in uw @ 5:41pm: Hold on aid due to withdrawal
Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I had to withdraw from fall quarter in week 8. Unsurprisingly, the office of financial aid has put a hold on my aid for Winter quarter, stating that I failed to complete the minimum number of credits last quarter. Does anybody have any experience with this or a similar situation? I plan on going in to the aid office tomorrow, but I'm having a minor panic here about whether or not I'll be able to receive my aid at all.

Other potentially relevant information:
-I will be graduating in June of this year (if I am able to receive my aid...)
-I did not go through the hardship withdrawal procedure, though I think my circumstances would qualify if there is any way to do it retroactively (I'm not sure if hardship vs regular withdrawal is relevant to aid)
-My aid package is made up of a small subsidized Stafford loan and a larger unsubsidized Stafford loan

Thanks, any help or information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

owl_eyes_4ever, posting in uw @ 10:52am: Due to a whole mess of problems, I finally got my orientation done on the 30th and had an advising session done right after, but since it was done so late I only got one class registered. I don't know what my PAC number is, and because of the holidays I could not get ahold of the registration office, and now it's the weekend and they are closed. Anyone know where I can get that? I don't even know how to view my current schedule without it (advisor did not print it for me to keep).

Also, can someone explain this regisering at 5:45 AM thing they mentioned in the orientation?

edit* Dilemma fixed, ty all! I have another question, though. Has anyone here got experience with Christine De Stefano's classes before? I signed up for her Intro to Political Theory (Poli Sci 201) course... because it was one of hte only ones with room still left. The fact that it has room has me a little worried of what I'm getting into.

tisoi, posting in uw @ 1:19pm: Back-to-back finals
A classmate in two of my classes for winter quarter pointed out to me that two of our finals in March are held 10 minutes apart. Since these two classes are required for our major, it affects several more classmates.

Now during this past fall quarter, I had two finals on the same day (but at a more manageable 2 hours apart). A friend claimed that I could've requested to have them changed. Is this true? And whom would I submit this request to? My first inclination would be to ask the professors, but from my (mistaken?) impression, it seems that they appear to have no say in the matter.

Thanks!

malicious_pengy, posting in uw @ 10:23pm: Part-time dumbness
I'm having trouble figuring everything out just with the website. What exactly are the differences between full-time status and part-time status at UW?

IMA pass? Bus pass? Do I have to start paying off my loans from last year earlier? Anything I'm not thinking of?

habituallydaft, posting in uw @ 4:09am: Free Semi Used Spiral Note Books
When I went to the UW I'd buy a shiny new spiral for each class at the beginning of the quarter and dutifully kept all my notes. I don't know why, I wasn't an exceptional note taker or anything. Recently going through them I realized how empty of markings some of the note books are. I decided to tear out the papers I wrote on and see if any poor college student could use 11 free spiral note books. They have 50-99% of their blank paper left. They all must go as one family, I don't want them being separated. They've spent a long time in a box together and have become really attached.

Picture: Read more... )

They all have the class # on the front and my contact info inside the front cover. Not the most attractive but this paper should get used at least once before it gets recycled.

You pick up in Northgate.
